Nail Art: Christmas Polka Dots

This post was supposedly up before Christmas or on the day itself because it a Christmas inspired nail art and I do have them on my nails during those days. But because of holiday reasons I wasn't able to do so until today.

Anyway, red, white and green are the season's color. These colors for me represent the poinsettias for red, white for the snowflakes and green the Christmas trees. I couldn't paint any of them in my nails lately like what I did last year, so instead I did a very simple nail art using these colors. A polka dots of red and green with white as base.

Using the cream white Dazzle Dry At First Blush, I applied them in my nails on 3 coatings for full opacity.

I'm beginning to master the application of Dazzle Dry nail lacquers (thumbs up for that!), unlike the last time.

Now for the design, I randomly spread the dots with the help of a dotting tool and using nail lacquers Dazzle Dry Morning Dew for green and L'Oreal Femme Fatale for the red dots. After which I sealed the design using Dazzle Dry Top Coat.

In less than 30 minutes I was able to do the design and my nails are ready for action.

Dazzle Dry is truly amazing. True to its claim it does dries rock hard in 5 minutes. Therefore I can do nail art in less time, perfect for busy women.

Crochet Newborn Baby Booties

Crochet is surely a fun activity. Although I still find it difficult to understand written patterns, but I'm learning and at the same time enjoying. Especially if I was able to finish a project that is intended for my baby.

I have downloaded few patterns of baby booties but I find it so hard to follow maybe because I'm still confuse with the basics and poor in picturing out the result.

But here's a pattern from Repeat Crafter Me, a very easy one and is really beginner's friendly.

With few hours of crocheting, I was able to finish this pair for my baby girl.

And the 0-3 months pattern, really fits her well.

I'm planning to make a headband to pair with this one, still searching for an easy to follow pattern. So watch out for it. hihihi!

Nail Art: Forget Me Not

Hooray!! Our handmade Swarovski jewelries orders for December are now in my sister-in-law’s hands and our beloved clients. I hope that the extra small trinkets that I’ve made will be sold out too this season. Cross fingers!

Since I’m done, I’m taking a break from wires and crystals and time do some nail art. Yep! It’s been a while since I had my nails painted, held the brush and paint something on it.

Not fixing my nails for more or less eight months made me a newbie again (O yeah! I never been a professional either..hehe)

Anyway, to start my nail art adventure once again, here’s the easiest nail art that I can think of, no other than flowers. Actually, I tried doing something Christmassy, unfortunately the nail art spirit of my hands have not returned yet. Toinks! I consumed more time in painting then wiping them away, I couldn’t really get it right. sigh!  Just to be able to accomplish something, I decided to paint simple flowers.

For the base color I used Dazzle Dry Forget Me Not. I’ve been yearning to use this polish ever since I bought them few months ago but wasn’t able to, because I was pregnant. Although, Dazzle Dry is said to be pregnant safe, but still I hesitated. Now that I have given birth I can freely have them on my nails. Yippee!

As a first time user of Dazzle Dry, I really had a hard time applying them of my nails. Because it is a fast dry nail polish (dries rock hard in 5 minutes, as implied), I had to act fast to be able to evenly spread the formula on my nails.

I wanted full color or full opacity so I usually go for 3 coats like what I have here.

Then, using acrylic paint and nail art brush I carefully painted 5-petal flowers on the nails. I admit I had hard time painting them. My hands were trembling while holding the brush.  Nevertheless, I still survived and was able to finish the task.

Hope next time I’ll be able to paint more and create more designs. If not, having a plain colored nails is good enough for me than having no polish at all. After all nail polish is like a lipstick to me… J

The Multi-tasker ME

Fifteen days more to go and it's Christmas! And I'm one busy mom right now. Aside from baby sitting my newborn girl I'm also trying my best to complete the jewelry orders that came in this month. I have to finished them by tomorrow and have it sent to my SIL on Wednesday.

The picture above shows my all-in one working area. From blogging, movie watching to crafting. Can you see Kim Tan on the screen? Yep! I'm currently watching Lee Min Ho's "The Heirs" while handcrafting jewelries.

Imagine how I managed to read the subtitle with my hands busy twisting wires? Well, I just did it! That is why I consider myself a Multi-tasker Mom! hehe

Two Blogs Fused Into One

I've mentioned in my previous post of my plan to fuse two of my blogs the Nails and Kolours and this handmade blog, with primary reason to reduce the number of blogs to maintain and at the same time to cut-off domain purchase.

My concern was how to transfer all my posts + comments from the other blog to here. I thought I had to do it one by one but thank goodness Daddy Allan wrote about "how to transfer your blog to another", he did made the transfer journey an easy peasy task. Thanks You!

I'm still in the process of changing the blog layout. I have to do trial and error with the codes and all. I think by the end of the week I'll be able to complete the transformation.

Pompons Swarovski Bracelets

Finally I was able to send the orders this morning and still waiting for the next list from my SIL. Also, Christmas is fast approaching I need to rush things and do more for the season. Who knows my SIL and I can sell more. cross-fingers x

Meanwhile, here's one of the most sought after design, a pompon like bracelet made of swarovski crystals.

This is actually a very simple bracelet wherein, 12 pieces of 4mm swarovski bicone crystals were weaved or made into a pompon balls using transparent nylon string.

Then later joined together using 14k gold-filled wires and components + swarovski bicone crystals of 6mm size.

I had four orders of different colors for this particular design.

an amethyst
 a jet black
 a light siam
 and a white crystal

With product code JCB-48, retailed at P650.00.

That's it! Hope you like it...

By the way I'm thinking of transforming this blog, I want to change the layout (I still have to find an easy to manage free template in the net) and planning to close down my nail art blog and incorporate it here,  after all this blog is all about handcrafting, art and fashion. So watch out for it!

Three Swarovski Graphic Bracelet

I made this design few months back and sent it to my SIL, and this time I got 3 orders for this piece.

A very simple bangle like bracelet, using 2pcs of 10mm Graphic (5520) Swarovski beads and a bigger size (18mm) as centerpiece.

A bangle like bracelet because I used 2- 4k gold filled round plain space bars and strung them together using a thicker 14k gold-filled wire to assure quality and durability.

These are the finished orders, listed in my SIL's piece of paper, 1 Jet Black and 2 Copper JCB-74 bracelets. SRP P840.00

All White, All Black and a Combi Swarovski Bracelets

I've mentioned in my previous post that I'm taking off my crafty hands from crocheting for now and return to my handmade jewelries because orders from my sister-in-law came in two weeks ago.

Sadly I wasn't able to start making what were listed right away because I ran out of materials which I only was able to get this week.

But before going to the orders, I made these three bracelets first for my office mates.

This design is one of the best sellers because aside from "according to my clients" it is simple and pretty, it is also one of the cheapest at P570.00 only. I already made a lot of this bracelets in different single tone and multi-color combinations. My creations never fail to satisfy my clients. char! hihihi

Anyway, these two JCB-37 of pure swarovski white ab crystals and pure jet black ab crystals are for Ma'am Annie. Actually, I already made the same for her before but she gave it to her cousin so she asked me to make them again.

And the 3rd one is a combination of the two colors above for Ate Faith. Ate Faith is also my "suki" she already got quite a number of bracelets and pendants from me. And according to her she love my works because they are quality made. Thanks for the compliment.. hehehe shy!

Sorry for the not so good looking pictures, I wasn't able to get decent photos and only have camera phone that time.  :(

Crochet Bumble Bee Hat

I'm taking a break from crocheting for now and return to my crystals because orders just came in. But before doing so, I had to finish first my crochet beanie project, a cute bumble bee design hat for my son.

This is actually my first project wherein I followed a written pattern. Yep! Congratulations to myself because I can slowly understand crochet patterns now, though I still need the help of the ever reliable internet for stitches that I still do not know. Like in this project, I learned how to make magic ring and single crochet decrease

This project was made by yours truly with the help of a pattern from Sarah  of www.repeatcrafterme.com called the Crochet Bumble Bee Hat.

To start with I used two 18 grams of Monaco Acrylic crochet yarns (yellow and black), size H hook and yarn needle.

Doing the hat is quite easy though, I can actually made it in just few hours hehehe (pero hindi straight ha... may long breaks in between hehehe) yabang ko noh! hehe

And now for the antennae. The hardest for me, because I did 2 trials before getting the "not so right" pair of antennae but considerable na rin.

I stuffed the antennae with black yarn, so it will  stick up a little. This is also where the yarn needle came in, sewing the antennae on to the hat.

And the finish product! charaaaaan!

The Bumble Bee Hat....

So what do you think?

I will post photo of my son wearing this hat soon...

Crochet Bee Happy Flower Ponytail

My first ever crochet project was the Rose Flower Ponytail, and I love so it! Because of that, I decided to make another ponytail this time with a flower design called Bee Happy Flower. The pattern and instruction was based on the video tutorial posted by The Crochet Crowd.

To start with the I used black and white local Red Heart yarns and G6/4.00mm hook.

Following the video tutorial was so easy, beginners like me can simply get through with it. I think I can make the flower in just few hours if I devoted most of my time, but because of busyness I just can't.

So here's how it looks like, a black and white combination flower that is similar to a pom-pom.

Later attached a black cloth rubber band using white yarn and a crochet needle.

There goes the finish crochet hair accessory...

And when attached to my hair...

I asked hubby how it looks like and according to him, parang "commercial" din ang dating.. hehe.. hindi halata beginner and gumawa..

That's it friends my 2nd crochet project... what's the verdict?

Suggestions and constructive criticisms are very much welcome.

Crochet Rose Flower Ponytail

I was undecided on what project I should start with. I thought of a headband, a shrug but I ended up making a flower and made it into a ponytail.

Yep! my first project was a rose flower that I made with the help of a video tutorial from sheru studio. As I've mentioned in my previous post I still can't understand written patterns, video tutorials are more of help for a beginner like me.

Using a local Read Heart yarn and an H8 5.00mm hook I was able to create a 4.5 inches diameter flower.

Then attached it with to a black rubber ponytail.

And here's the finish product on my son's yaya's hair.

Looks good to me..hehehe love your own eh..

How about you? What's the verdict? winks*

Learning Crochet

I’ve mentioned in my other blog two months ago that I wanted to learn crochet, because I personally want to make baby accessories made of crocheted yarns. I saw a lot of cute baby stuffs in the net and so determined to make some for our jewel that will be coming in December.

Learning from the very beginning was never that easy, because I have to learn the terms and abbreviations to be able to read patterns, which until now I still can’t, I rely mostly on tutorial videos in Youtube which are easier to follow.

Materials like yarns and hooks are also something to be familiar with. I have hard time finding hooks here in the city. The ones available are stainless hooks that are only applicable to crochet threads. Yarns have bigger strands that require bigger hooks too.

Because I really want to have those big hooks, I searched for them online thru sulit.com and bought myself 1 set of Susan Bates Aluminum hooks at P495.00 + P160 shipping cost. Expensive huh! I know but I have no choice.

As of for the yarns, local ones like the Red Heart brand are available in Gaisano City, while Monaco Acrylic yarns are available in Everbest, a textile store located in Cogon, Cagayan de Oro City.

I think I’ll settle for the local ones for now, when the time comes and will be able to visit Metro Manila I’ll get myself imported yarns of different materials and see the difference.

Meanwhile, I still have to continue practicing and reading so that I can really make what I aim to.

Watch out for my next post... My first completed project...
